Rømø - Mandø

Rømø is a Danish island in the Wadden Sea. Rømø is part of Tønder municipality. The island has 650 inhabitants as of 1 January 2011 and covers an area of 129 km².

Mandø is one of the Danish Wadden Sea islands off the southwest coast of JutlandDenmark in the Wadden Sea, part of the North Sea.  Mandø is barely accessible at high tide over an unpaved surface level causeway of about four kilometers in length that connects the island to the mainland.

We attempted to ride across this on our bicycles, but were warned by a passing vehicle that we only had 20 minutes until the road would be covered by water and the crossing would not be possible for another 6 hours.  Not wanting to be stranded or submerged by an incoming tide, we reluctantly turned back.
